Summer is officially coming to an end. That means days are going to become shorter and it is almost time to embrace comfort food cooking!
Speaking of comfort food, who doesn't love a decadent and leisurely brunch? I am personally a huge fan of brunch and I must say, that I really love all the recent unique plays on classic dishes. It has kind of become a new trend. It is essentially the theme of my blog so of course, I love it.
In the spirit of unique brunch dishes, I created an easy new favorite recipe for you to try. It is quickly becoming one of my most beloved recipes on the blog. One bite and you see exactly what I mean. Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal and French toast are literally a match made in Heaven. The cereal gives a nice crunch that is not typically seen in French toast. The combination results in a cross between cinnamon rolls and French toast.
The maple icing dipping sauce tops everything off. It is sweet but also warm and comforting. The best part is that these French toast sticks are portable for even the most stressful of mornings. Now, you're going to want to get up a little early on the weekends, especially if it means these little guys will be on your breakfast table.
Recipe:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees and line a baking sheet with non stick foil. and cut bread into strips
(cutting bread into thirds)

In a medium sized bowl, whisk the eggs, sugar, vanilla, and milk together. Set aside

Melt a tablespoon of butter in a sauce pan/skillet over medium-low heat.

Place a slice of the bread half way in the egg mixture.
Hold it there about 30 seconds then flip the bread and repeat on the other side.

Dredge the strip of bread in the cinnamon toast crunch crumbs. (You may need to
gently press them into the bread.) Set aside and repeat with remaining strips of bread.

Place a few of the coated strips of bread in the skillet (be careful not to overcrowd the pan).
Brown each side (about 3-4 minutes) then place on baking sheet. Repeat with remain strips of bread.

Bake the partially cooked french toast sticks for 10-12 min or until strips are cooked through.

Meanwhile, prepare the glaze by mixing the melted butter milk and confectioner’s sugar together.
Stir in the salt, vanilla, and maple syrup.

Dust the french toast sticks with confectioner’s sugar with desired, and serve warm.
